Elementary

Events and Activities geared towards K-4 grade students

Yearly events taking place
  • Math 24
    • 4th grade students
    • Math 24 is a student competition for grades 4-7 based on five version of the Math 24 card games. Work with the games fosters basic facts, mental math, problem-solving, and patterning.
  • Southern Lakes Anthology-submissions January
    • 3-8th Grade students create poetry, prose, art, cartoon, and illustrated writing pieces that relate to that year"s theme
  • Learning Fair
    • Students display projects that they have been working on the cover a variety of students" interests and passions

Intermediate School

Events and Activities geared towards 5-6 grade students

Yearly events taking place
  • Math 24
    • Math 24 is a student competition for grades 4-7 based on five version of the MAth 24 card games. Work with the games fosters basic facts, mental math, problem-solving, and patterning.
  • Math Meet
    • One 5th and 6th-grade team and one 7th and 8th grade team participate in solving a series of math questions
  • Southern Lakes Anthology-submissions January
    • 3-8th Grade students create poetry, prose, art, cartoon, and illustrated writing pieces that relate to that year"s theme
  • District Solo and Ensemble
    • Open to grades 6th-12th for instrumental or vocal performances
  • National Spelling Bee- Teacher: Pirate Time Teachers
    • Students will partake in a spelling bee to find top spellers in their grade. Top students then have the opportunity to compete at the next level, potentially all the way to the national stage
  • National Geography Bee- Teacher: Pirate Time Teachers
    • annual geography contest sponsored by the National Geographic Society. The bee, held every year since 1989, is open to students in the fourth through eighth grades in participating schools from the United States

Middle School

Events and Activities geared towards 7-8 grade students

Yearly events taking place
  • Middle School Leadership Conference-October
    • Group of 4 students attending a program to help develop their leadership and communication skills
    • Making connections and friendships with other students from other districts
  • Southern Lakes Anthology-submissions January
    • 3-8th Grade students create poetry, prose, art, cartoon, and illustrated writing pieces that relate to that year"s theme
    • Must select 4 judges (Coordinator included)
  • Math Meet
    • One 5th and 6th-grade team and one 7th and 8th grade team participate in solving a series of math questions

    • 2-3 Students A day filled with exciting classes that help middle school students experience many different avenues that the art world offers. Classes in acting, dance, writing, drawing, and more are included. Students will also attend a performance

High School

Events and Activities geared towards 9-12 grade students

Yearly events taking place
  • High School Leadership Conference
    • 6 Students with high leadership potential are selected to attend this event to help grow leadership skills
  • District Solo and Ensemble
    • Open to grades 6th-12th for instrumental or vocal performances
  • Capitol Conference Math Meet
    • Students take three individual tests and a team test. In the fall, teachers grade the tests and then the winning school gets an award. In the spring, students go to a host school and compete. Top three get medals and there is an award for winning school.
